Just a Peek

Walking along Pragerstrasse in downtown Dresden a week ago, we met a man and his flag. We weren't sure why he was there. The rest of the crowd wasn't sure either, and pointedly ignored him or peeked over their shoulders after they'd walked by, to see what he might do next. The dogs did not care.

I know where his spiritual home - if not his real home - is: the Museam of Communism which, if my memory doesn't deceive me, is in Pragerstrasse. But I don't recall that glitzy store.

Scratch that. Isn't there a street with a slightly similar name in Prague? Dresden, forsooth. I should read your posts more carefully.

You're right, if he were in Prague he'd be advertisement for the Communism Musuem. In Dresden, he seemed more political. The Czech friends I was with sighed and shook their heads. "Eastern Germany," they said in Czech. "To be expected."

I'd imagine that in the land registry there is a Dresdenerstrasse on record in Prague, but not these days! All strasses are now ulices (streets) here.
