Summer Solstice

Rain has fallen all across middle Europe today, hiding the sun and the solstice. This afternoon I snapped a shot of our balcony before the sun could completely disappear. I've got strep throat, and couldn't celebrate the day as I might wish, but I did enjoy sitting on the step between our bedroom and balcony, waiting for the storm to break. It arrived in great claps of thunder, no lightning to be seen, and then a massive downpour.

Your plants are alive!!!! ;)

But really, your geranium looks so much better then mine (sniffsniff)...

The geranium is doing surprisingly well. Who knows why?! I bought the daisy-like flower (does anyone know what this might be?) just a few days ago, so give me time and I'll kill it yet ;-).

Still, these are my best attempts at a garden so far!

It's difficult to say based on what one sees here - but could they be coreopsis?

That does look like coreopsis, called Mädchenauge (maiden's eye) in German.

Hope the strep is gone by now!

I checked on the web, and sure enough it is coreopsis. Thanks guys, so nice to have gardeners as blog friends!
