Where we left off

Summer solstice pictures from June. I pull them out to look at the green and purple every now and then. I love the Maxfield Parrish clouds, and remember how swirling still the longest day of the year sky seemed, light at nearly ten.

A month later and where have I been? Mostly perched in my office chair with pen in one hand, phone in the other - my battle implements against the economy and the inevitable slow down of a European July. 6:30 comes, and I stop typing long enough to make dinner and play with the children for a few hours, then they are in bed and I am back at my desk until midnight. And so it goes.

Julia - you are working so hard - will you get a vacation?

Pen in hand? You must be using it to chew on. I can only imagine you wired.

Mary - we are taking a vacation - we're heading to France in August to see family and friends, and I'm very excited!

BB - I use my pen to write the lists that keep me on task, and to take notes soundlessly when I'm on the phone, but I am almost always in front of my computer at the same time! (I do chew on my pen too though, how did you know? Keyboards aren't half as handy)

I was wondering where you'd gone! Thought perhaps Barcelona or somewhere cool like that though :) We're on vacation soon but an American 'staycation' to ward off the ample amount of economic stimulus we've been attempting when NOT on vacation. Were doing our part! Maybe it'll trickle over towards you...

Prague is on my 10-top list of cities to spend vacation in. Maybe not in July or August but I imagine spring must be beautiful in Central Europe? Have a happy vacation when the time comes!

No Barcelona, but France is exciting enough for me this year! C and I are practicing mangling French in anticipation.

Anna, Prague is wonderful in July and August and I can completely recommend it. The weather sometimes does get hot, but it almost never goes over 30 (still cool for someone from the tropics like me!) We rollerbladed today in 18C weather, it was perfect.

It's nice to have you back! I love that little cottage, and that's a perfect way to describe those fluffy clouds!

Take care of yourself, with all of that midnight oil-burning...

I like the shoes! Glad to see you're able to manage a post between all of that work!
