Ladybugs for Obama

ladybug costume
I've just set my alarm to wake me up at 2 so I can check the polls (and instant message with my sister who is also planning to wake up then). Exciting times ahead tonight and tomorrow and in the meantime, I thought I'd post a funny pic of C's latest dress-up endeavor.

Because not all things red are Republican...

Updated to add: Hurray! Red or Blue, I'm proud of the United States of America. Can we change, yes we can!

Dear C,
You will probably think that I am making this up but I too dressed up as a ladybird when I was little. But I did not have wings, nope. My mother took a red cushion and sewed black dots onto it and strapped it to my back. In retrospect, I know I would have thought your wings were way cooler than my cushion.

P.S. Good luck America!

You're a better woman than I - I went to bed. Woke up to a nice day, though!

Oh, I do wish the Queen Ladybug would fly over here and escort into the wild blue yonder the hundreds of Asian ladybugs hibernating and now swarming in our house. Perhaps she can lure them away with aphid stew.

And boy does it finally feel much less embarrassing to be an American again.

Hooray! And well done Democrats Abroad!

C looks fantastic. It always seems sort of odd to me that it's red for Republican and blue for Democrat, having grown up with the idea of blue meaning Conservative and red for the left...

The US elections were a serious matter for Brits too as you can see on

I'm not sure I'd have had the guts to check out your blog in the event of a McCain win.
